DESCRIPTION AND GENESIS OF THE WORK
In giving shape to this artwork I let my imagination take me back
back in time, imagining the splendid Gina Lollobrigida
as he passes through the streets of Catania in celebration.
It's 1969: the air smells of nougat and candy floss, the lights of the patronal festival envelop the city, and on the slopes of Etna the scenes of
"A Beautiful November," based on the novel by Ercole Patti
and directed by Mauro Bolognini.
I thought it was just a game of imagination, a personal tribute to the diva,
and instead, during one of my presentations, a friend of mine who is an entertainment journalist,
came to visit me almost by chance,
reveals a surprising detail to me: Gina Lollobrigida, the "bersagliera"
which had also conquered Hollywood, in those days it was really
I took a curious stroll through the streets of Catania, eager to breathe in the atmosphere of the celebrations in honor of Saint Agatha.
So I understood that my intuition was not fantasy, but collective memory
that resurfaced, a fragment of history returned to the imagination.
