PROGETTO "AFTER ROMITA"


“After Romita it's my artistic project dedicated to John Romita Sr., the greatest designer of

Spider-Man is one of the absolute masters of American comics between the Golden Age and Silver Age.

This work is born from a personal and artistic debt towards an author who has formed

my gaze and my visual imagination.

The works that make up the project are reproductions and reinterpretations

of covers and historical pages, reread with my sensitivity.

These are not simple quotes, but an act of crossing: I enter into the sign of Romita

to make it dialogue with the present, keeping the narrative strength of the comic intact

and transforming it into artistic language.

Particular attention is paid to the Marvel and DC comic photo novels,

to the love stories that have always coexisted with superheroes.

In these paintings, action gives way to gaze, feeling, and emotional tension.

Love, in its most fragile and powerful forms, becomes the true narrative engine.

At the heart of the project is the woman: icon of beauty, desire, elegance and strength.

The female figures drawn by Romita have defined a universal aesthetic,

becoming an absolute reference of the World Pop Art.

I start from that beauty to explore it today, as a symbolic and timeless image.

After Romita It's a tribute, but also a declaration:

Comics are art, comics are collective memory, comics are emotion.

Through these works I try to restore artistic dignity to a language that has been able to

to tell like few others the love, myth and popular identity of our time.
